Obituary

The funeral service for Arol E. Adams, 93, Fargo, N.D., formerly Port Orange, Fla., and Barney, N.D., will be held Thursday, May 26, at 9:30 a.m. at the Vertin-Munson Wahpeton Funeral Home with Rev. Ed Aldrich of the Americana Health Care Center, Fargo, officiating. Interment will be in Fairview Memorial Gardens, Wahpeton.
Mr. Adams died Sunday morning, May 22, 1994, at the Americana Health Care Center, Fargo.
Visitation will be today (Wednesday) from 3-8 p.m. at the Vertin-Munson Wahpeton Funeral Home. There will also be visitation Thursday from 8:30 a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home.
Arol Ellingson Adams was born June 3, 1900, at Ireton, Iowa, to Andrew E. and Mary A. (White) Adams. He moved with his parents to Barney in 1904 where he received his formal education.
He farmed with his father until his death on Oct. 10, 1949. Arol then took over the farm in 1977 and retired to Port Orange, Fla., where he built his home. He continued to reside there until June 13, 1989, when he entered the Americana Health Care Center, Fargo.
He was a member of the Wahpeton Masonic Lodge No. 15. He enjoyed planting flowers, especially roses.
He is survived by one brother, Richard D. Adams, Lake Panasoffkee, Fla.; his great-nephew, whom he raised, Eugene (Burl) Metcalf, Barney; numerous nieces and nephews; great-great-nieces and nephews; and great-great-great-nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Andrew E. on Oct. 10, 1949; and Mary Angeline (White) Adams on Sept. 28, 1922; five brothers, Cliffton P., 1979; Leo V., 1973; Homer R., 1952; Burl G., 1964; Clide W., 1963; one sister, Salena G. Adams, 1979; his lifelong companion, his niece Margaret Oneda Metcalf, 1981; great-nephew, Gail E. Metcalf, 1990; and a great-great nephew, Randall J. Metcalf, 1985.
