Obituary
George Alsaker Dies Tuesday At Bowman, N.D.
Funeral Saturday From Bethel Church; Military Rites Planned
George P. Alsaker, who lived most of his life at Wahpeton before moving to Bowman, N.D., and is well known in this community, died suddenly following a heart attack Tuesday. He was 38 years old and the father of two children. He has lived in Bowman for the past two years being employed in the parts department of the Stuber Ranch store.
Mr. Alsaker was born May 27, 1912, at Odessa, Minn., the son of William and Stella Alsaker. He moved with his parents to White Rock, S.D., and later came to Wahpeton where he attended high school and the State School of Science.
He was employed for some time at Hoppert’s Hardware and later with I.E. Lillegard for about eight years. He enlisted in the U.S. Seabees in the fall of 1942 and served overseas during the war.
In May of 1941 he married Vivian Brunsberg at Fertile, Minn. To this union two children were born.
Besides his wife and children, he leaves his parents, Mr. and Mrs. William Alsaker of Hawley, Minn., and a brother, Manley, of Omaha, Nebr.
Funeral services are being conducted this Thursday afternoon at Bowman and the body is being shipped here for services and burial. The remains will arrive Friday morning at the Vertin funeral home here, who are in charge of the arrangements. Military rites will be conducted. Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday from the Bethel Lutheran church with Rev. P. A. Gisvold church officiating. Burial will be made in Fairview cemetery. Pallbearers listed are: John Kuchera, Harvey Lillestrol, Jerry Meyer, Elmer Wolters, Henry Knudson and Walter Hoppert, Jr.
