Obituary
Harriet Aspinwall-1885
At Wahpeton February 6th, 1885, Mrs. Harriet Aspinwall, wife of Augustus Aspinwall, aged 38 years, four months and 23 days of nervous prostration and finally, paralysis.
Mr. Aspinwall came to St. Anthony, Minnesota, in 1853, and 21 years ago this last fall married deceased whose name was McCrory, since which time has lived in that state up to coming here last August. There are five children in the family, three girls and two boys, the youngest being eight years of age. For some years Mrs. A. has not been very rugged, but shortly prior to her death there were no apprehensions of a sudden turn for the worse, until on the 4th instant the children sent to the office for their father and he found his wife suffering severely and breathing with difficulty. Dr. Swaine was summoned, and on asking the lady to show her tongue discovered that half her body right through was becoming paralyzed and she died on the 6th, two days later. The greatest care has been taken of the lady by her own family, and physicians summoned when it was thought advisable. A brother of Mrs. Aspinwall. Mr. A. C. McCrory accompanied by his wife arrived from Lisbon two hours after the death, and the following morning Mrs. Parker, a sister of Mrs. A arrived from Monticello, Minnesota. The funeral service occurred Sunday, Rev. Mr. Barnes officiating, the remains being laid away in the Wild Rice cemetery. The two eldest children in the family are girls and are nearly grown, so that the misfortune might have been worse. The relatives mentioned above arriving here, remained till to-day. The family has the deep sympathy of many newly made friends at Wahpeton, including The Times.
