Sarah Jane Awde-1902
Death is indeed a sad affair in the sorrowful event of our lives and the passing away of a dear devoted wife and mother in the very prime of life, seems a greater affliction than suffering humanity can stand, and yet it must be so; they who are born must die-and so if this is true, let us judge those who have been called home by theGreat Father above, by the kind acts done on earth. She has left us. The good mother, who has nursed us in sickness, watched over us in health, and guided our footsteps through childhood has passed away and left behind her the sweet sound of her kind voice and the good influence of a loving mother. Mrs. Sarah Jane Awde, living Doran died at her home Thursday morning at six o’clock with pneumonia, after an illness of several weeks.
Mr. and Mrs. Awde resided in Wahpeton about two years ago, during which time their son Hiram was employed in W. W. Jamison’s hardware store. Mrs. Awde had many warm friends here. She was an earnest worker in the Methodist church not only during her residence in Wahpeton, but all her life. She leaves a husband and several sons and daughters to mourn her death. The funeral occurred at the residence in Doran Thursday and the remains were brought to Wahpeton and laid to rest in Fairview cemetery.
