Obituary
W. Cyrus Anderson dies on Thursday
W. Cyrus Anderson, 79, former Wahpeton businessman, died Thursday in Wahpeton. He once owned and operated the Texaco bulk oil business in Wahpeton.
The funeral service will be Monday at 2 p.m. at the United Church of Christ - Congregational, the Rev. Stephen R. Hanning officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be Sunday afternoon and evening and Monday until 11 a.m. at Vertin's Wahpeton Funeral Home West Chapel and at the church prior to the service.
He was born Sept. 16, 1900 at Benson, Minn., the son of C.C. and Christine (Flaten) Anderson. He was raised and attended local school in Benson. After graduation from Benson High School, he worked as a brakeman for Great Northern Railroad and operated a photography studio in Benson. He worked in the FBI's photographic lab in Washington, D.C. during World War II. He married Helen J. Weum June 2, 1945 at Benson. They moved to Wahpeton where he purchased the Texaco bulk oil business. He operated the business until 1965 when he sold it and went to work as an auto salesman for Loberg Ford.
He was a member of the United Church of Christ - Congregational and the Wahpeton Masonic Lodge. He was past member of the Masonic Lodge in Benson.
He is survived by his wife, one daughter, Mrs. Gary (Nancy) Schonfeldt, Irvine, Calif.; one grandson; and one sister, Mrs. Carl (Georgene) Gustavson, Morris, Minn.
He was preceded in death by one brother.
