Mrs. Andrew Braaten, 69, Dies Tuesday; Rites Set

Mrs. Andrew (Gina) Braaten, 69, or rural Barney, died Tuesday at her home.

Funeral services will be at 2 Friday at the Wyndmere Lutheran Church, Rev. Conrad Greenquist officiating. Interment will be Fairview Cemetery, Christus Gardens, Wahpeton.

Visitation at Vertin’s Wahpeton will be this afternoon and evening (Thursday) and Friday until 11 a.m.

Gina Wold was born Feb. 20, 1896 at Walcott, and was raised there. She was confirmed and married to Andrew Braaten, June 27, 1922 at the Richland Lutheran Church, Walcott.

The couple lived at Fargo while Mr. Braaten was attending NDSU in 1926, later moving to the Barney area where they farmed in Homestead Township. Later they moved to Fergus Falls and lived there six years before returning to Barney where they lived since.

She was a member of the Wyndmere Lutheran Church and its ALCW.

Surviving are her husband; a daughter, Mrs. Edward (Marlys) Anderson, Detroit Lakes, Minn.; one son, Allan, Barney; six grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Albert (Olga) Funseth, Northwood, N.D.

She was preceded in death by four brothers and three sisters.

Mrs. Klinton Braaten will be organist and Mrs. Conrad Greenquist will be vocalist.

Pallbearers will be Edward A. Anderson, Gilman Braaten, Kenneth Braaten, Carlott Funseth, Oscar Gylland and John Score.

The Garden of the Christus is located in the Memorial Gardens, which comprises the northern half of the cemetery.
