Obituary
Wahpeton Man Killed On Highway Near State Line Armand Brand, 29 Loses Life when Truck Overturns While Passing Combine
Armand Brand, 29 year old resident of this city, was killed when the truck he was riding in overturned while attempting to pass a combine near New Effington, S. D. about nine o’clock Wednesday evening. He was returning to his home here after being on a harvesting trip in the south since June 8th. Three local men with him were hurt in the accident and are patients in the Community Hospital at Sisseton.
lArmand Brand was born April 21 1931 in Mooreton township. He spent his childhood There and attended local schools. He worked for the railroad except for a period when he lived in Fargo and was employed there. He had held his rights as a brakeman on the Great Northern and expected to be called home during the summer to make a trip but had not been called. He married Dorothy Meyer, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Otto Meyer, of this city. To them were born four children, who with his wife, survive. They are Craig, 9, Shari the only girl, who is 7, Kevin 4 and Curtis 2.
He is survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Leslie Brand, of this city and the following brothers and sisters: Milton, St. Cloud; Elwood, Breckenridge; Miss Norma Brand, of St. Paul; Marlys, Mrs. Don Moellenkamp, Lisbon; Janet, Mrs. Wayne Baker, Williston; Dorine, Mrs. Gerald Reber, Wahpeton; Wayne, in the Airforce at Waco, Texas and Roger at home.
Funeral services have not been set, pending word from the brother in service, but will be from Immanuel
Lutheran church in this city. Vertin, Schmitt-Poulton are in charge of arrangements.
