Leslie Brand
WAHPETON - Leslie J. Brand, 68, of Wahpeton died Monday at his home. The funeral will be at 2 Wednesday in the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Wahpeton with the Rev. Edward J. Rutter officiating. Stanley Strege will be the organist and special music will be by Arden Strege. Interment will be Fairview Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be Tuesday afternoon and evening with a prayer service at 8:30 p.m. and Wednesday until 11 at Vertin's-Wahpeton Funeral Home and at the church one hour prior to services.
Casket bearers will be Mark, Jeffrey, Douglas and Jay Brand, Michael and Ricky Moellenkamp and Craig and Kevin Brand.
Mr. Brand was born Feb. 20, 1904, at Mooreton, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Jay L. Brand. He married Adela Stoltenow Feb. 10, 1927. The couple farmed at Mooreton and he was employed by the Holthusen Seed and Feed Company for 30 years. He also had been employed by the Wahpeton Lumber Company. He was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church.
He leaves his wife; eight sons and daughters, Milton, Tuscon, Ariz.; Elwood, rural Fargo; Mrs. Jerry (Corrine) Reber, 126 10th Ave. E, West Fargo; Mrs. Earl (Norma) Tank, Cottage Grove, Minn.; Mrs. Donald (Marlys) Mollenkamp, Lisbon, N.D.; Mrs. Wayne (Janet) Baker, Wahpeton; Roger, Calabasas, Calif.; a brother and sister, William and Mildred, both Wahpeton; 37 grandchildren, a great grandchild and two step grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Armond in 1960, a brother, Clyde, and a granddaughter, Bonitta.
