Lena Baker
Services for Mrs. Orie (Lena) Baker, 78, of Wahpeton will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at Bethel Lutheran Church, Wahpeton with Rev. Marvin L. Hartmann officiating. Burial will be at Fairview Cemetery.
Mrs. Baker died Wednesday night at St. Francis Hospital.
Visitation will be Friday afternoon and evening and Saturday until 11 a.m. at Vertin's Wahpeton Funeral Home and one hour prior to services at the church. There will be no prayer service.
Casket bearers will be grandsons Gene, Randy, Dale, and Terry Baker; Paul Borchardt, and Donald Rettig.
Lena Muehler was born Sept. 14, 1899 at Hankinson to Gustav and Emma (Hoefs) Muehler. She grew up there and attended local schools.
She married Orie Baker Sept. 23, 1916 at Hankinson. The couple lived at Kensel, N.D. for a time, then farmed near Hankinson in Elma Township. In 1956 they moved to Wahpeton. He died Sept. 30, 1965. She continued to live in Wahpeton. For the past three years she has been a resident of the Wahpeton Rehabilitation Center.
She was a member of Bethel Lutheran Church.
Survivors are two daughters, Mrs. August (Pearl) Rettig of Hankinson and Mrs. Elroy (Grace) Borchardt of Fairmount; three sons, Herbert and Raymond of Denver, Colo.; 23 grandchildren; and two sisters, Mrs. Robert (Bertha) Berg and Mrs. Ed (Trace) Willpreckt, both of Hankinson.
She was preceded in death by her husband; two sons; two grandchildren; two sisters; and four brothers.
