Obituary
J. P. Brinkman Dies Tuesday; Rites Set Friday
John P. Brinkman, 76, Wahpeton, died Tuesday at St. Francis Hospital.
Funeral services will be at 2 Friday in the Immanuel Lutheran Church. Rev. Edward J. Rutter officiating. Interment will be in Christus Gardens.
Prayer service will be this evening (Thursday) at 8:30 p.m. with visitation at Vertin’s Wahpeton Chapel.
Mr. Brinkman was born Oct. 20, 1889 at Buxtehude, Germany, raised there and worked at a factory there. He married Emma Boehrs April 20, 1913 in Germany. He served in the German Army during World War I.
He came to the Minot area and in 1929 he moved near great Bend where he farmed. The couple later farmed near Abercrombie before moving to Wahpeton in 1950. Mr. Brinkman worked for the Richland County Oil Co., retiring in 1958. He continued to live here.
He was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church.
Surviving are his wife; a daughter, Mrs. Elroy J. (Gerda) Burg of Wahpeton; one grandchild, Joanne Burg; one brother and three sisters, Klaus, Emman Schmarz, Anna Augustine and Minnie Tieman, all living in Germany.
Serving as pallbearers will be Walter Moore, Nolan Osborn, Arthur Schneider Carl Koppelman, Gilbert Koppelman and William Muehler.
Organist will be William Enochson and the ladies choir will sing.
