Obituary
Services Held Today for D. P. Baldner
Funeral services were held today, Thursday, for Daniel P. Baldner of Wahpeton, who died at his home Monday. Rev Henry Fry officiated at the services in the Immanuel Lutheran church in Wahpeton. Interment was in Fairview Cemetery.
Mr. Baldner was born March 18, 1886 near Taterville, Iowa. He grew up and attended school there and farmed with his parents. He later operated his own farm near Taterville. He was married to Maria Sievert at Elkston, Minn., Feb 23, 1911. The couple farmed near Westbrook, Minn., and Clinton, Minn., before coming to Richland County. They farmed near Tyler before moving to a farm near Mooreton in 1933. They retired from the farm in 1943 and moved to Wahpeton. Mr. Baldner was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran church in Wahpeton and served as a township supervisor and on church boards.
He is survived by his wife, five sons, Alfred of Wahpeton Wilmer of Mooreton, Lloyd of Milton Freewater, Ore., Earl of Granada Hills, Calif., and Elroy of Houston, Texas; a daughter, Mrs. James (Bernice) Dietz of Wahpeton; a brother, Leonard of Mason City, Iowa; and a sister, Mrs. William (Ida) Hoffman of Taterville. He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters and a brother.
Pallbearers for Mr. Baldner were Elmer Affield, Gilbert Koppelman, Herman Becker, Clarence Hoefs, Clarence Holthusen and Art Daman. Serving as honorary pallbears were John Wiebusch, John Brinkman, William Tribke, Geo. Holthusen, John P Dietz and Henry Hauschild.
The Vertin-Schmitt and Poulton Funeral Home, North Chapel, was in charge of arrangements.
