Obituary

Funeral Set for Mrs. D. Baldner At City Church

Mrs. Daniel (Marie) Baldwin, 77, of Wahpeton, died Wednesday night at St. Francis Hospital in Breckenridge.

Funeral services will be at 2 Saturday from the Immanuel Lutheran Church, Wahpeton, Rev. Rudolph Naft of Great Bend officiating. A prayer service will be Friday at 9 p.m. at Vertin’s Wahpeton Chapel.

Marie Siewert was born Aug. 29, 1889 in Mower County near Austin, Minn., to parents, Augusta and Fredand Siewert. She was married to Daniel Phillip Baldner on Feb. 23, 1911 at Elkton, Minn. They began farming at Westbrook, Minn., and moved to Clinton, Minn., in 1916.

The couple came to Richland County in 1920 to farm near Tyler and moved to Mooreton in 1923 where they farmed. In 1943, they retired from farming and came to Wahpeton to live. Mr. Baldner died Oct. 17, 1960. She continued to live here and resided in the Wahpeton Rehabilitation Center for the past two months. She was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church.

Surviving are five sons and one daughter, Alfred of Wahpeton, Wilmer of Mooreton, Lloyd of Eugene, Ore., Earl of Granada Hills, Calif., Mrs. James (Bernice) Dietz of Wahpeton, Elroy of San Barbara, Calif.; 18 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

There also are four sisters, Mrs. Louis Baldner of Adams, Minn., Mrs. Olaf (Marsha) Olson and Mrs. Peter (Minnie) Fahji, both Austin, Minn., and Mrs. Dora Klien of Aparta, Wis.

She was preceded in death by two brothers and one sister.

Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Dennis, Duane and Larry Baldner, Roger Steward, Jeffery Dietz and Gerald Giwoyna.
