Obituary

George J. Barfoth

George J. Barfoth, 78, Wahpeton, died Wednesday at the Wahpeton Rehabilitation Center. Funeral services will be Monday at 11 a.m. at the Vertin's Wahpeton Funeral Home Chapel, the Rev. Ernest Bartels officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Wahpeton.

Visitation will be Sunday afternoon and evening and Monday until the time of the service at the funeral home.

Casket bearers will be Art Leshovky, Leander Lelm, Clarence Meyer, Dale Peterson and William Baker.

He was born Sept. 6, 1901 at Milwaukee, Wis., the son of Ernest and Marie (Mickelson) Barfoth. He attended schools in Milwaukee. He later married Bertha Meyer. They lived in Milwaukee for a number of years. She died while in Milwaukee. After her death, he moved to Fairmount and worked on farms in the Fairmount, Dwight and Abercrombie areas. He married Tillie Sell Jan. 15, 1963 at Wahpeton. They lived in Wahpeton after their marriage. In 1974, they moved to Lidgerwood and lived there two years. They returned to Wahpeton and have lived here since.

He was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church, Wahpeton.

He is survived by his wife, two brothers, and a sister, Henry and Charles Barfoth and Marie Radtke, all of Milwaukee.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his first wife.
