Death Claims Guy Barton Wilkin Pioneer

Has Resided Since 1904 On Farm Fourteen Miles North of Breckenridge

Death claimed another Wilkin county pioneer when Guy Carlton Barton passed away Tuesday morning at about 10:15 o’clock at St Francis hospital in Breckenridge.

Guy Carlton Baton, son of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Jefferson Barton, was born in Green Valley, Ill., on July 12, 1876, a little over 60 years ago.

He resided in the place of his birth for some twenty-three years. In 1899 he was united in the bonds of matrimony to Miss Florence Longanecker, at Conrad, Iowa, where they resided for some five years. During 1904 they moved to Wilkin county, and settled on a farm fourteen miles north where they have lived for over 32 years. To this union was born four sons, Atlee, Earl, Glen and Ray.

Mr. Barton enjoyed splendid health until about two and one half years ago when he became ill. Kindly physicians did everything possible to restore him to health. Of late he had spent considerable time in St. Francis hospital.

He is survived by his loving wife and four sons, Atlee and Earl of Breckenridge; Ray of LaCrosse, Wisc., and Glen of Wahpeton. Also surviving are three sisters: Mrs. Alie Woodruff of Bradgate, Iowa; Mrs. Ida Ide of Manitou, Ill., and Mrs. Chas. Coryville of Green Valley, Ill., and five grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m., Friday from the Breckenridge Methodist church with the Rev. F. W. Hill officiating. The music will be by the choir of the church who will sing favorite hymns of the deceased. The pallbearers will be Rudolph Jacobs, Oscar Wood, William Larson, Fred Andel, Earl Martin and William Erbes. Interment will be in Fairview cemetery at Wahpeton.
