Obituary
Robert W. Beach, son of Stephen and Mary Beach, was born on June 24, 1872, at Lynn, Ontario, Canada, and passed away at the home of his daughter Margaret, Nov. 11, 1951, at Minneapolis, at the age of 79 years.
When Robert was 12 years of age, the Beach family moved to a farm near Dows, Iowa, where he attended the public schools and grew to young manhood.
He was united in marriage with Alice E. Stacey Aug. 5, 1893. To this union two sons and four daughters were born.
Mr. and Mrs. Beach and family moved from Dows, Iowa, to Kent, Minn., in 103, and made their home there until 1912, when the family moved to Richland county. In 1938 the family returned to Wilkin county, Minn., where they have since made their home on a farm near Rothsay.
Mr. Beach was a devoted member of the IOOF lodge for a period of 32 years, where he made for himself many warm fraternal brothers and friends.
The deceased underwent surgery in June. Since then he had been cared for at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Haug of Minneapolis, except for a period of three weeks when he was able to return to his farm home near Rothsay. During that time Mr. and Mrs. Beach celebrated their 58th wedding anniversary was observed eight years ago at the home of their daughter Mrs. June Dahlgren of Wahpeton.
The survivors are his wife, Mrs. Alice Beach, of Rothsay, F. S. Beach, Breckenridge; June M. Dahlgren, Bemidji, Wava G. Smith, Ashland, Ky, Stanley S. Beach, Wahpeton, Margaret S. Haug, Minneapolis; 12 grandchildren, six great grandchildren. One daughter, Vera R. Sansom preceded him in death, September 17, 1923 and one grandson Jack Sansom, who was killed in action in April, 1945, during World War II.
Rev. C. H. Meier officiated at last rites from the Methodist church and interment was at Calvary cemetery. Pallbearers were R. I. Hawes, W. J. Braun, W. E. Morden, A. J. Hausauer, C. M. Comstock and Harry C. Wallis.
R. W. Beach Dies Sunday in Minneapolis
R. W. Beach, former Wahpeton resident, but now of Rothsay, Minn., died at 10:50 Sunday evening at Minneapolis. The body is being brought to Wahpeton where funeral services will be held from the Methodist church at 2 p.m. Wednesday with Rev. C. H. Meier officiating. The body is at the Vertin Chapel in Wahpeton.
Mr. Beach came to Wahpeton from Wilkin county in 1912 and farmed near here until about 12 years ago when he moved to Rothsay vicinity. In Wilkin county, his original farm was located where the Femco farm is now located.
He is survived by his wife, the former Alice Stacey of Belmont, Iowa, and children, Mrs. Sam Smith, of Ashland, Ky., Francis, of Breckenridge; Mrs. June Dahlgren, of Bemidji, Minn.; Stanley, of Wahpeton; and Mrs. Gerry Haug, of Minneapolis; brother, Morris, of Long Beach, Calif.; two sisters, Mrs. Ed Burrows, of Dows, Iowa, and Mrs. Lee Michels, of Alison, Iowa, and 13 grandchildren.
