Mae Olson-Bergum To Be Buried From Bethel Church Well Known Lady Dies Friday Evening At Breckenridge Hospital

CAME TO WAHPETON FROM DWIGHT VICINITY

Worked On Farmer-Globe For Past Ten Years As Reporter

Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday afternoon at two o'clock from Bethel Lutheran church here for Mrs. Mae Olson-Bergum, for ten years connected with the Farmer-Globe, who died at St. Francis hospital Friday evening at 8:55. She had been ill for more than a year. Burial will be in Fairview cemetery in the family lot. Rev. Gisvold will officiate.

Mae Josephine Olson was born near Dwight Dec. 6, 1890, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Magnus Olson. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran church there an attended the rural schools of Dwight. She also attended Oak Grove Seminary at Fargo.

In 1919, she came to Wahpeton with her parents to live. She was employed in grocery stores of the city for a time, later operating a confectionery. She was employed by the Gazette-Telegram in Breckenridge for six years, leaving that paper to go into the confectionery and restaurant business. She was employed by the Farmer-Globe later and worked continuously on the editorial staff of this paper until January, 1938, when she left to become the bride of Henry P. Bergum of Dwight. The marriage took place at Wahpeton Jan. 15, 1938.

During her employment in the newspaper business, Mrs. Olson-Bergum became widely known. She was a report and advertising solicitor with the Farmer-Globe.

Last spring she built a store on her lot in the north part of Wahpeton but was unable to do all the work. She was taken ill two weeks ago and was confined to her bed. On Tuesday of last week, her condition became critical and she was taken to the hospital on Wednesday morning, as soon as she could be moved.

Death came at 8:55 p. m., Sept. 1. The cause was anemia with other complications due to a back injury. She suffered a stroke and was partially paralyzed.

She is survived by her husband and two brothers, Peter, of Battleview, and Andrew of Dwight, as well as other relatives living here and other points.

Pallbearers will be John Halvorson, A. M. Sampson, Donald Lum, Dave Bezenek, George Fischer and R. L. Hawes.
