E. J. Boeck, Long Time Resident Dies Friday Morning

Funeral Services Conducted Sunday Afternoon from Church of God

Edward Julius Boeck, 71, passed away at his home Friday morning at 3:15. Mr. Boeck had been ill for a long time but was confined to his bed less than a week when he passed away. Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at two o’clock from the Church of God. Burial was in Fairview cemetery. Rev. Joel officiated.

Mr. Boeck was born May 2nd, 1866, in Promberg, Germany. When he was six years old his parents both passed away. He grew to young manhood there where he learned the shoemakers trade. Arriving in the states in 1889, he went to the state of Wisconsin and worked on a farm near Oskosh. He came to Wahpeton to establish his permanent home in 1913 and has since operated a shoe shop here.

In 1913 the marriage of Edward Julius Boeck to Ida Lattman who came to the states from Switzerland took place. The marriage took place in Redfield, S.D., this being his second marriage.

Four children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Boeck, Edward 14, Alvin 14, Harvey 9, and Esther 8 surviving besides his wife, one sister, Mrs. Gill of Oskosh.

Mr. Boeck was a member of the Lutheran faith throughout the years as a shoemaker in Wahpeton. Mr. Boeck was closely associated with his work and lived solely for his family. He was a kind and loving husband and father.

Pallbearers were Carl Glander, Henry Sweep, Millard Rikert, Otto Totsky, Emil Zarling and Bert Stueck.
