Ms. Herbert Brand Mooreton-Township Buried Monday
Pioneer Of This Vicinity Dies Suddenly Early Friday Morning
Mrs. Herbert Brand, Mooreton township pioneer farm woman, died early Friday morning and funeral services were held Monday afternoon at 2:45 from the Congregation church here with Reverend Hall officiating. Private services were held at the farm home at two o’clock. Interment was in Fairview cemetery. Mrs. Herbert Brand, nee Minnie Jost, was born at Hammond, Wis., August 24, 1879, and lived there until July 9, 1906, when she married Herbert Brand. The couple came to Mooreton township in 1906 and have since made their home there. Mr. and Mrs. Brand are well known over the county.
Mrs. Herbert Brand is survived by five children, Henrietta May, John Peter, Beatrice Martha, Howard Herbert, and Gretchen Bernice, all living at home. Two brothers, Charles Jost, Center township, and W. C. Jost, Hammond, Wis., also survive a cousin, C. J. Hoffmann, lives in Wahpeton.
Pallbearers were: Ambrose Traeger, Julius Smith, Jake Steffens, O. Dahmann, Charles Boll and D. H. Spicer.
The passing of Mrs. Herbert Brand came as a distinct shock to the hundreds of friends and neighbors the family have in the county. After making their home in Mooreton township ever since their marriage, the couple have enjoyed the respect and friendship of an ever widening circle of people.
