Obituary
Mrs. J. Brand, Long in County, Laid to Rest
Funeral services were held here Monday afternoon from the Congregational church for Ms. J.R. (Isabelle) M. Brand, resident of Richland county about 70 years, who died Thursday at St. Francis Hospital after a long illness. She was 75 years old. Dr. F. G. Schick officiated at the service with Schmitt and Olson Funeral Home of Wahpeton in charge of arrangements. Interment was made in the family lot in Fairview Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Elmer Ward, Ambose Traeger, Ferd Smith, Henry Spicer, Richard Hollands and Clifford Ruddy.
She was born June 12 1878 At Augusta, Wis., and came to Richland county when a girl with her parents. She graduated from Wahpeton High School in 1896 and taught for several years at various schools in Richland county.
April 8, 1903, she married Jay Roy Brand and they lived on a farm west of Wahpeton. Mr. Brand died April 5, 1937, and Mrs. Grand moved to Wahpeton in 1940 where she had lived since.
She was a member of the Congregational church here, the Dwight Ladies Aid and the Royal Neighbors of Wahpeton.
Surviving are two sons, Leslie and William, both of Wahpeton: a daughter, Mildred Brand of St. Paul, Minn.; nine grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. Besides her husband, a son Clyde who died May 14, 1930 preceded her in death.
