DEATHS DURING WEEK REACH BIG TOTAL

Mrs. Bena Brand, wife of J. P. Brand of Wahpeton, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Chas. Jost of Center township, on Monday evening, November 24. The cause of death was dropsy and complications of long standing, she having been a sufferer for some ten years past. Bena Bengard was born in Germany seventy years ago, and came to this country at the age of six. The funeral was held Thursday t the residence in Wahpeton, Rev. Walton conducting the services. Interment was in the Wild Rice cemetery.

Mrs. P. Brand, one of the pioneer residents of this county, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Jost, in Center township, of complications of diseases, with which she has been afflicted for several years.

Bena Bengard was born in Germany October 15th, 1848, and came to this country with her parents when she was six years of age. They located in Wisconsin. She was married to Mr. Peter Brand and to this union there were three children born, all of which survive the mother. They are Herbert and J.J. Brand and Mrs. Alice Jost, all of Center township. Mr. and Mrs. Brand came to Dakota 38 years ago and made their home on a farm in Center township until about seven years ago when they moved to Wahpeton, where the family has been since.

The funeral was conducted by Rev. Walton at the Episcopal church on Thursday afternoon. Interment was in Wild Rice Cemetery.

The bereaved family have the sympathy of the whole community in their bereavement.
