Obituary

Lloyd Bullock-1918 Marjrie Bullock-1918

One of the most distressing cases of sickness resulting from the flu is that of the family of Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Bullock of Wahpeton. The family of father, mother and four children were all ill with pneumonia at the same time, with the exception of the tiny baby, which so far has escaped the epidemic. It is being cared for at the home of Mrs. J. B. Yates until such time as the mother is again able to care for it.

Lloyd Vernon Bullock, aged five years and two months, and his sister Marjie Lillian Bullock, aged three years and five months, both succumbed to the pneumonia which had its grip upon the entire family, on Thursday of last week, one passing away at about 9 o’clock in the morning and the other just before twelve o’clock in the evening. At the time the children’s mother was very low with the disease, while Mr. Bullock’s case was considered dangerous and he was fast approaching a crisis. The older brother happily was gradually improving.

The situation being so desperate in the Bullock home, and all nurses already having more than they could do elsewhere, many of the friends and neighbors of the Bullocks volunteered their services as nurses, and it was through this help that the other members of the family probably were survived. The family is well known in Wahpeton, where they have lived for a number of years. Mrs. Bullock’s mother, Mrs. Trebil, arrived last week and has taken charge of the household affairs and the nursing. Mr. and Mrs. Bullock are reported as convalescent, but this in a critical condition.
