FUNERAL FOR MRS. F. A. BURTON HELD WEDNESDAY Many Friends Join Relatives In Mourning Passing Of Pioneer Woman
Funeral services were held for Mrs. F. A. Burton, Wednesday afternoon from Congregational church of which she was a member. They were read by Reverend R. D. Hall. Interment was made in Fairview cemetery. Services at the cemetery were conducted by officials of the Order of Eastern Star Organizations of which she was a member. attending in a body were the W. R.
C. the Legion Auxiliary and the Order of Eastern Star. Pallbearers were F. G. Callan, J. G. Forbes, F. B. Schneller, R. T. Barber, T. J. Thomsen and E. H. Myhra.
Mrs. Burton, who was before her marriage, Miss Ida A. Bigelow was born in Orwell, Ashtabula county, Ohio, on the 26th day of August, 1861. She was married to F. A. Burton in Preston, Minn. On the 27th day of August, 1884. Mr. and Mrs. Burton moved to North Dakota in December 1888. In the year of 1895, they moved to Abercrombie and in 1901 they came to Wahpeton, here she has resided with her husband since.
Children surviving Mrs. Burton are; Edwin W. Burton, Victor E. Burton, Mrs. E. W. Price and Gertrude E. Burton, who teaches at Mapleton, N. D. Another child was also born to this union but died in infancy. There are six grandchildren. All of the children were present at the funeral services.
Mrs. Burton was well known in this community and her passing is a matter of great regret to everyone. During the past several weeks she has been a patient in the Wahpeton hospital. While a patient in that institution she submitted to two operations. Death was caused from an attack of pneumonia from which she was unable to recover. Floral tributes and the attendance of friends at the funeral services showed in a small way the sincere loss which was felt. Several out-of-town people were here for the services. They included Mrs. Duff, Mrs. Webster and Mrs. McManuss, of Mapleton, Mrs. W. J. McKenzie and son, Frank of Wild Rice, Minn.
