Obituary

Victor Burton

The funeral for Victor Burton, 87, Breckenridge, will be here at 2 Tuesday in Grace Lutheran Church with Rev. F.C. Schmidt officiating. Flag presentation will be by the American Legion Hafner-Miller-Ross Post No. 20 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 4324 of Wahpeton.

Mr. Burton died Saturday at St. Francis Hospital. Interment will be in Fairview cemetery.

Visitation began Monday afternoon and continues this evening with a prayer service at 9 tonight at Joseph Vertin and Sons Funeral Home. Visitation continues Tuesday morning and one hour prior to the service at the church.

Born Jan. 12, 1891, at Wild Rice, N.D., to Fred and Ida (Bigelow) Burton, he moved to Wahpeton with his family. He attended the North Dakota State School of Science and worked for the Otter Tail Company. He served in the Army during World War I and later worked as a mechanic in Wahpeton for several years. He married Louise Leuring in 1920 and they lived in Wahpeton until 1947, when they moved to Breckenridge. His wife died in 1950. A brother and two sisters also precede him.

Survivors include a son and four daughters, Frank, Rialto, Calif., Elaine, Spokane, Wash.; Mrs. Fred (Ruth) Seibel, Breckenridge, Mrs. Knut (Phyllis) Lindseth, Munich, N.D.; and Mrs. Donald (Dona) Stanley, Hankinson, N.D.; two sisters, Mrs. Blanche Price and Gertrude, both of Seattle, Wash.; and 18 grandchildren.

Casket bearers will be Robert Hall, David and Merle Johnson, Merril Klein, Allen Lindseth and Michael Seibel. Honorary bearers will be WWI vets.
