T. J. Bute Dies Saturday After Long Illness
Funeral Services Are Held Monday for Aged Resident
Funeral services were held on Monday afternoon from Schmitt & Olson chapel for T. J. Bute, age 75 years who died Saturday at St. Francis hospital where he had been hospitalized the past several months. Rev. J. H. Rees officiated at the last rites.
Mr. Bute came to this vicinity in 1911 and farmed near Doran until 1924 when he and his family moved to Wahpeton. They have since resided on North Seventh Street. It was there that Mr. Bute suffered a stroke this spring, since which time he has been hospitalized.
Born at Grand Ridge, Ill., in 1872 he was married March 15, 1894 at Grand Ridge to Millie P Smith. They continued to reside at Grand Ridge until 1911. To them were born four sons, who survive. They are Kenneth of Washington, D. C., Gordon of Downey, Ill., Coach Earl Bute of this city and Lester Bute of Doran, all of whom were at the service for their father.
Mr. and Mrs. Bute celebrated their Golden Wedding in March, 1944 when many friends called to compliment them. At that time it was noted that Mr. Bute’s parents had also celebrated 50 years of married life marking their golden wedding anniversary in 1900.
Interment was in Fairview Cemetery following the rites this afternoon.
