Obituary
Elroy J. Burg
Elroy J. Burg, 60, Wahpeton, died Tuesday, Sept. 1, while enroute to St. Francis Hospital in an ambulance. He had apparently suffered a heart attack.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Wahpeton, Rev. Ernest Bartels officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be Thursday afternoon and evening with a prayer service at 7:30 at Vertin's-Wahpeton Funeral Home. There will also be visitation at the funeral home until 11 a.m. Friday and at the church for the hour prior to services.
Elroy J. Burg was born Nov. 21, 1920 at Campbell, Minn. to Math and Rose (Rott) Burg. He was raised in Wilkin County attending local schools. He began work with the Tyler Farmers Elevator in 1937.
He served in the Army in the Pacific Theatre for three years. After service he returned to the area and continued to work at the elevator. He married Gerda Brinkman April 6, 1946 at Fergus Falls. They lived at Wahpeton.
He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, the Wahpeton American Legion and VFW.
Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Joanne Burg, Menlo Park, Calif.; a brother, Lester, Hopkins, Minn.; and a sister, Mrs. Thomas (DeLores) Copeland, La Jolla, Calif.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
