Albert Bahr Funeral Held Saturday at City Church

Albert Bahr, 86, of Breckenridge and a former long-time Richland County farmer, died Thursday at St. Francis Hospital in Breckenridge. Funeral services were held Saturday at the Evangelical United Brethren Church, Rev. Charles Ritter officiating.

Mr. Bahr was born at Culbertson, Neb., Oct. 1, 1881 and was raised there and later homesteaded at Flasher, N.D.

He married Lydia Strayer at Mohasha, Kans., Feb. 14, 1909. In 1936 they came to Richland County, to farm near Mooreton, until retiring into Wahpeton in 1956. Mrs. Bahr died in 1966.

He leaves eight sons and four daughters, George, Underwood, Minn.; Rev. Hubert Bahr, Shickley, Neb.; Charles, Orange, Tex.; Floyd Okanogan, Wash.; Leslie, Mooreton; Dean, Wyndmere; Sgt. Donald Bahr, presently in Korea.

Mrs. Frank (Neva) Van-Duyn, Casselton, N.D.; Mrs. Ardy (Velma) Woodbury, Barney, N.D.; Mrs. Hilford (Lura) Johnson, Wahpeton; Mrs. LeRoy (Ellen) Dinger, Wyndmere; 50 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren.

There are two brothers, Herman of New Salem and Arthur of Larks Park, Calif.; and four sisters, Mrs. Harry (Lillian) Gardner of Wahpeton, Mrs. Helen Bahr of Bismarck, Mrs. Gus (Aa) Sievert of Hollsville, and Mrs. Martin (Pauline) Peterson of Mandan.

Organist was Mrs. Donald Gripentrog with Mrs. Donald Heitman as vocalist.

Pallbearers were Chester Marquette, Colin McDougall, Robert Stone, George Williams, Blake Tisdel and Corwin Moffet.

He was a charter member of the Congregational Church at Flasher. The couple farmed in Antelope Township and were members of the Antelope-Methodist Church before moving to Wahpeton. Interment was in Fairview Cemetery, Wahpeton.

Vertin’s Wahpeton was in charge of arrangements.

The Garden of the Christus is located in the Memorial Gardens, which comprises the northern half of the cemetery.
