Obituary

Ole J. Bakken of Wahpeton Dies Wednesday

Ole J. Bakken, 50, an employee of the Rosemeade Potteries Co. here since 1945, died Wednesday in St. Francis Hospital. Death was attributed to a heart ailment.

The funeral will be Saturday at 10 a.m. in Bethel Lutheran Church of which he was a member with Rev. P. A. Gisvold officiating. Interment will be in Fairview Memorial Gardens here. Vertin Funeral Home of Wahpeton has charge of arrangements and visitation will be at their funeral parlors Friday afternoon and evening.

Ole Johan Bakken was born Sept. 8, 1909 at Carpio, N.D., but when a boy came with his parents to near Colfax where he attended schools and grew to manhood on his parents farm. He married Verna Kielb May 24, 1933.

The couple farmed near Colfax until 1945 when they moved to Wahpeton. Mr. Bakken suffered a heart attack Sunday and had been hospitalized in Breckenridge.

Surviving are his wife; a son, Orlin of Wahpeton; a daughter, Mrs. Marvin (Carol) Manock of Wahpeton, two grandchildren; seven sisters, Mrs. Thomas Halvorson, Mrs. Herman Brosowske and Mrs. Henning Isackson all of Colfax, Mrs. Melvin Wateland of Galchutt, Mrs. Otto Sveom of Wahpeton, and Mrs. Gasper Gasperwich of Milwaukee, Wis,; two brothers, Henry of Breckenridge and Joseph of Colfax.

His parents and a brother, Alfred preceded him in death.
