Francis Brink

Wahpeton - Francis E. Brink passed away September 28, 2021 at Benedictine Living Community of Wahpeton, North Dakota at the age of 82.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, November 5 at 11:00 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Aberdeen, South Dakota.

Francis (Fran) Brink was born to Lawrence and Delores Brink in Parkston, South Dakota on January 10, 1939. He graduated from Pierre High School in Pierre, South Dakota in 1957. He then went on to the South Dakota School of Mines in Rapid City, South Dakota. He graduated with a degree in Civil Engineering and a Master's in Structural Engineering in 1962. Fran was a licensed Professional Engineer/Land Surveyor.

Francis was united in marriage to Maureen DeNoma in Wagner, South Dakota in 1964. They then moved to Oxnard, California where he worked at the Naval Civil Engineering Research Lab for four years before returning to South Dakota. Fran became the City Engineer in Madison for six years. He then moved his family to Aberdeen, South Dakota where he became City Engineer for 26 years. Francis was awarded several honors from the city before being named National Civil Engineer of the Year July 14, 1998. After retiring from the city, he started his own private practice, Brink Engineering in Aberdeen. Fran was a life-long member of the National Society of Professional Engineers/Land Surveyors. He was also a member of the Aberdeen Lion's Club and the Brown County White Tails Unlimited.

Francis was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Maureen of Wahpeton, North Dakota; children Steven of Memphis, Tennessee; and Shana (Jeremy) Remily of Wahpeton, North Dakota; two grandchildren Noah Remily of Saint Paul, Minnesota, and Kenna of Wahpeton, North Dakota; one brother Jerry (Kris) Brink of Hudson, Wisconsin; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents and one brother James Brink.

In lieu of flowers, all memorials should be directed to Storybook Land in Aberdeen, South Dakota.
