Obituary
Alfred Baldner Rites Tuesday
Alfred F. Baldner, 58, of Fergus Falls died unexpectedly Saturday of an apparent heart attack. Funeral services will be at 2 Tuesday in the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Wahpeton with the Rev. Edward J. Rutter officiating. Organist will be Elizabeth Hepper and vocalist will be Alvin Hepper. Burial will be in Fairview Memorial Gardens.
Honorary casket bearers will be Ray Hintgen, Ted Gast, Art Johnson, Clarence Bladow, Walt Lundby and Lloyd Keech.
Active casket bearers will be Clarence Brunkhorst, John Deissler, Harvey Loll, Dr. Dennis Bertsch, Don Young and William Enochson.
Visitation will be Monday (today) afternoon and evening and until 11 a.m. Tuesday at Vertin's-Wahpeton Funeral Home. There will be a prayer service at 7 p.m. Monday evening at Vertin's Chapel.
Mr. Baldner was born Oct. 1, 1912, at Westbrook, Minn., the son of Daniel and Maria (Sievert) Baldner and was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran Faith. The family moved to the Great Bend area in 1920 and to Mooreton in 1934 where his parents farmed. He married Margaret M. Stack Oct. 16, 1947, in the Belford Lutheran Church, rural Hankinson. The couple resided in Wahpeton where he was employed by the Consumers Gas Co. In September 1970, he was transferred to Fergus Falls.
Mr. Baldner was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church, served as Sunday School superintendent, president of the Men's Club and Lutheran Laymen's Service.
He is survived by his wife; two sons, Dennis of Moorhead and Dennis, who attends Kansas State University at Manhattan, Kan.; one sister and four brothers, Mrs. James (Bernice) Dietz of Wahpeton, Earl of Los Angeles, Calif., Elroy of Santa Barbara, Calif., Lloyd of Eugene, Ore., and Wilmer of Mooreton.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
