Carol Berndt

The funeral for Mrs. Alton (Carol) Berndt, 48, of rural Wahpeton will be Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. at Zion United Methodist Church, Great Bend, with Rev. Doyle Buss officiating. Burial will be at Fairview Memorial Gardens, Wahpeton.

Mrs. Berndt died unexpectedly Saturday at her farm home.

Visitation will be Tuesday afternoon and evening at Vertin's Wahpeton Funeral Home (East Chapel) with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. There will also be visitation one hour prior to services at the church.

Casket bearers will be Irvin and Lester Smith, Dwight Anderson, Delwood Berndt and Garnet and Robert Marks.

Organist will be Mrs. James Schultz. Special music will be provided by the Zion Ladies Choir.

Carol Siminson was born Mar. 7, 1927 at rural Wahpeton to Andrew and Cecil (Anderson) Simonson. She attended local schools.

She married Alton Berndt Dec. 26, 1942, at Breckenridge and the couple farmed in Brandenburg Township.

Survivors are her husband; a son, Kenneth of Breckenridge; a daughter, Mrs. George (Alice) Gianakas of Kenosha, Wis.; five grandchildren; her mother, Mrs. Andrew (Cecil) Simonson of Wahpeton; five sisters, Mrs. Lyle (Mildred) McMangle of Phoenix, Ariz., Mrs. Robert (Gloria) Halgunseth of Anoka, Minn., Mrs. Gerald (Darlene) Dickerson of Phoenix, Mrs. Leon (Mary) Gebro of Fairmount, and Mrs. Martin (Catherine) Birchem, Jr. of Wahpeton; and three brothers, Kenneth of St. Paul, Donald of Breckenridge, and Roy of Wahpeton.

She was preceded in death by her father and two infant brothers.
