Obituary
Carl Oscar Carlson-1918
Oscar Carlson, for the past fifteen years a resident of Wahpeton, died at the Lutheran hospital Sunday about noon from pneumonia. Oscar Carlson came to America from Sweden about fifteen years ago. He worked for H. G. Rasmuson for about ten years, during most of that time driving the mail route and helping about the livery stable. About three years ago he began working for the City Hotel, driving the bus and other similar work. Coming here with absolutely no knowledge of English, he had picked up enough to be able to read and speak very well and to write more or less, although never attending school here.
He was known as a clean, straight-forward young man, of upright character and of a frugal, saving nature. He had saved from his wages enough to purchase a few years ago an eighty acre farm in Minnesota, besides considerable cash in the bank. He is survived by one brother in St. Peter, Minn., and a brother and sister in the old country. The funeral was held Tuesday afternoon at 2:30 from the Schmitt & Olson undertaking parlors, burial being made in Fairview cemetery.
