The cause of death was pernicious anaemia, an affliction which seldom yields to treatment. Mr. Childs was born July 19, 1857 at Hastings, Minn., and was in his sixty-fourth year. He located at Grove Lake, Minn., in 1880, and the next year was married to Miss Dora E. Willson of Castle Rock, Minn. One year later Mr. Childs was married to Miss Whilhimina Joarny of Long Priarie, Minn., where they resided until 1895. In that year they moved to a farm at Colfax, where the family resided for sixteen years, moving again to Wahpeton in 1911. Two children were born of this second marriage, Clark W. Childs, who is now farming near Colfax, and Mrs. John Risbeck of Tulare, S. D., who with their mother and an adopted son Wesley Mathias, survive to mourn his death. One brother Wallace W. Childs of Clear Lake, Wis., and a sister, Mrs. S. A. Rowel of Farmington, Minn., also survive him.
For several years past Mr. Childs has been in the employ of the Great Northern railway here, in the capacity of tower man at the crossing west of town.
Three of the children were here for the funeral, which was held at noon at 2:30. Rev. Harry Knowles of Breckenridge conducted the service. Burial was at Fairview cemetery. The pall bearer, who were chosen from among his old friends, were: Ira G. Moats, J.B. Yates, D. D. Swank, John Visger, Geo. Van Arnam and P. O. Wold
