Obituary
Mrs. Childs, Walcott, Dies
Service for Mrs. Eugene (Wilhelmina) Childs 85, of Walcott, was held Monday in Vertin Chapel, the Rev. Roy Harris of Breckenridge, officiating.
Mrs. Childs, a resident of Richland County nearly 60 years, died Thursday in Breckenridge.
She was born in Germany, July 6, 1867, and moved with her parents to Long Prairie, Minn., as a child. She was married to Mr. Childs at Long Prairie in 1888. They moved to the Colfax area in 1895, farming there until 1908 when they moved to Colfax and operated a hotel. In 1912 they came to Wahpeton.
Mr. Childs died in 1921 and Mrs. Childs had lived with a son, Clark, at Walcott since 1949. She was a member of the Wahpeton Methodist Church and the Rebekah Lodge.
Surviving are another son, Ernest, of Aberdeen, Wash.; a daughter Mrs. Alillian Rigg, of Portland, Oregon; two brothers, Louis and John Oltman of Long Prairie; seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Eugene and Veryl Childs, Elwood Boyer, Lloyd Walberg, Milo Ista and Elmer Peterson.
