Obituary

Agnes Comstock-1921

Aged Pioneer Dies Suddenly Mrs. Agnes Comstock died at the Wahpeton hospital in Wahpeton at 10:30 a. m. March 9th. At the time of her death, her bedside was surrounded by her four children, Morrel, Laura, Roy and Gertrude.

Agnes Patterson was born in Ontario of Scotch parentage, nearly 60 years ago, and in the early eighties she moved Wahpeton and shortly afterwards married Clark Comstock. Mr. Comstock was a contractor in paper hanging and painting. He had a store on Dakota avenue, until his death in 1900.

Mrs. Comstock was a highly efficient business woman and at the time of her death owned a beautiful farm of 500 acres in Antelope Township, a few miles northwest of Mooreton as well as a number of houses in Wahpeton.

Colonel Alex Hay knew her in the City of Winnepeg in 1880. He says he remembers that at the marriage of Mr. and Mrs. Comstock, the well known minister, Mr. H. W. Troy performed the ceremony.

She is survived by her four children, Morrel, married and living on a farm on the Red River, a few miles north of Breckenridge; Laura, married, now Mrs. Geo Abenshien, Crookston, Minn. Roy is handling the farm in Antelope and Gertrude, the youngest, now Mrs. Anton Pletti, of this city. Laura and Roy are twins. Walter, a son next older then Gertrude, died about 24 years ago. One brother of Mrs. Comstock is now living at Stony Mt., Manitoba.
