Obituary
Walter Comstock-1898
The death of a five year old son of Mr. and Mrs. C.S. Comstock. Last Friday from what seems to be diphtheria caused quite a ripple of apprehension throughout the city, as it was supposed that many many other children had come into contact with this particular case. But the disease was so far advanced before a physician was called that the doctors could not be sure that it was diphtheria. Another one of the Comstock’s children was also sick, but she is now recovering. Little Hazel Gesswein as also taken last week with what was feared to be diphtheria, but it proved to be only a case of severe tonsillitis. So much time has elapsed without the development of new cases that the danger of an epidemic seems to be past.
