Obituary

C. M. Comstock, Wahpeton Contractor, Dies at Age 76

Clark Morrell Comstock 76, well known Wahpeton construction contractor, died Saturday morning in a local hospital. Funeral services were held today (Monday) in Vertin’s-Wahpeton Funeral Chapel.

Rev Harold Jones officiated at the services and interment was in Fairview Cemetery.

Born in Wahpeton, March 2, 1885, he attended local schools and the State School of Science. He later taught drafting and estimating at the Science School.

He married Matilda Kosek at Wahpeton Sept. 26, 1910. The couple lived in Aberdeen, S. D., for a year following their marriage before moving to a farm near Mooreton. They remained there for about six years and then moved to a farm near Breckenridge for about eight years before moving to Wahpeton. They have lived in Wahpeton since that time.

Mrs. Comstock remained active in the construction business until about five years ago His son, Lynn, was associated with him in the firm.

He served as a trustee of the Odd Fellows and was state grand-master for the lodge. He was also a member of the Owl Club, Rebekah Lodge, a past county commissioner and city alderman and served on the County Welfare Board and the cemetery board.

Surviving besides his wife are four sons, Allen Mankato, Mins., Clark, St. Louis Park, Minn., Clark, St. Louis Park, Minn., both Wahpeton; three daughters, Mrs. Clarence (Valerie) Nygaard, Wahpeton, Mrs. E. S. (Marion) Osojnicki, St. Paul, and Mrs. Robert J. Waite, Breckenridge.

Also surviving are 17 grand-children, three great grandchildren, and two sisters, Mrs. George Abendschien, Whitefish, Mont., and Mrs. Gertrude Plettl of Wahpeton.

Mrs. F. D. Brown was the organist at the services and Art Azure was the vocalist. Serving as pallbearers were Merle Hoppert, Calmer Carlson, John Flaa, Charles Forman, William Karst and Andy Hausauer. Named as honorary pallbearers were William Braun, Jack Noland, William Haverty, Wallace Norgaard, Clifford Schneller and Charles Kocourek.
