William Coppin Dwight Farmer Dies Sunday
Funeral Services For Prominent Citizen To Be Wednesday
William Coppin, a resident of Richland county since 1881, passed away at his home near here at noon Sunday, Sept. 8th. Mr. Coppin was one of the most prominent farmers of this vicinity.
He was the youngest of the ten children of Edwin J. Coppin and his wife, Elizabeth, and was born Sept. 16th, 1880, at Mitchell, Ont., Canada. When he was six months old the family moved to Hankinson, and his home was there until 1914. At that time, he moved to the farm which has been his home until his death.
On June 9th, 1909, he was married to Miss Marie Tew, of Wahpeton. To them were born three daughters, Mildred Marie, who died at the age of 9, Pearl (Mrs. Calmer Carlson) of Wahpeton and Doris.
The closer relatives surviving him are, His wife; two daughters, Mrs. Calmer Carlson and Miss Doris Coppin; one granddaughter, four brothers, John, George and Philip of Hankinson, and Thomas of Bakersfield, Calif.; and a sister, Mrs. Alice Baker, of Wahpeton
He was a faithful member and a deacon of the First Congregational church of Wahpeton.
The funeral will be held on Wednesday, 1:30 p.m. at the home and 2:00 at the Congregational church. Rev. Ross Hartman will be in charge. Mrs. H.B. Paul will sing a solo, and there will be singing by a quartet, and Miss Donna Forkner will be the accompanist.
The pallbearers will be Robert Barber, Walter Crawford, Henry Field, Harold Nunns, H.B. Satterlee and R. J. Thurlow.
Burial will be in the local cemetery. Vertin’s in Wahpeton are in charge of the services.
