Mrs. Frank Cox Dies Wednesday
Funeral Services to be Conducted Saturday
Funeral services will be conducted Saturday afternoon at two from the Congregational church for Mrs. Avis Cox, wife of Frank J. Cox, 616 Third Street North, Wahpeton. Mrs. Cox, a lifetime resident of Wahpeton died at St. Francis hospital at 1:45 p.m. Wednesday. She had been in declining health for several months and was very seriously stricken for several days preceding her death.
Funeral services will be conducted from the Congregational church with Rev. Ross B. Hartman officiating. The body will remain at the Schmitt & Olson chapel until 11 a.m. Saturday when it will be taken to the church. The Eastern Star chapter, under the leadership of Mrs. Eldon Lum, will conduct its funeral ceremonies. Burial will be in Fairview cemetery.
Mrs. Cox, daughter of Charles W. and Helen T. Sleeper was born in Wahpeton on September 21st, 1881. Her parents were prominent pioneers of this community. After graduating from high school, she was employed in the Richland county judge’s office for more than 30 years. She was married to Frank J. Cox on May 19th 1913.
Mrs. Cox was a charter member of the Business Woman’s aid of the Congregational church. She was a past Matron of the Wahpeton chapter, Order of the Eastern Star, past Noble Grand of the Wahpeton Rebekah lodge and a former officer of the Women’s Relief Corps.
The closer relatives surviving are her husband and four cousins.
