Obituary
Ronald Canham, Dies Unexpectedly In Jamestown
Ronald P. Canham, 48, Wahpeton, died Monday unexpectedly of a heart attack at Jamestown, N. Dak., where he was working for a local roofing company.
Funeral services will be Thursday at 2 p.m. from Immanuel Lutheran Church. Rev. Edward J. Rutter officiating.
A prayer service was held Wednesday evening at Vertin’s Wahpeton Chapel with Rev Lambert Dierks in charge.
Military graveside rites will be conducted by the Wahpeton American Legion Post at Garden of the Christus, Fairview Cemetery.
Mr. Canham, lifelong resident of Wahpeton, was born here June 12, 1917, and attended St. John’s school and Wahpeton High School. A veteran of World War II, he enlisted in the Army Jan. 9, 1942 served in Alaska and the Phillippine Islands. He received his discharge Jan. 15, 1946.
He married Evelyn Anderson of Breckenridge, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Jan 21, 1942. Upon returning to Wahpeton, he was employed by a local garage and bottling works for many years, the last several years he was a foreman for Twin City Roofing Co. of Breckenridge.
He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church and the Wahpeton American Legion Post.
Besides his wife, he leaves a daughter, Donna Lou of Seattle, Wash., and a son, Roland, at home; a brother, Clair, Walla Walla, Wash.; and a sister, Mrs. Ben (Dorothy) Gebhart of Wahpeton.
Also surviving is another sister, Mrs. Frank (Margaret) Weiss of Tacoma, Wash.
He was preceded in death by parents and one brother, Gordon in 1962.
Serving as active pallbearers will be B. J. Williams, Jr., Walter Klawitter, Roy Hausauer, Carl Glander, Elroy Klawitter, and Jack Schlener.
Honorary pallbearers will be T. E. Koppelman, John Stoltenow, Alvin Ambach, Adolph Kub, Robert Matt and Emil Bartl.
Orgaanist will be Mrs. William Enochson and Immanuel Ladies Choir will sing.
