Olaf Carlson Dies Monday In Hospital

Olaf Carlson, aged 55, died at St. Francis hospital Monday morning after being in poor health for sometime. His death followed a sudden sharp attack and was unexpected. Funeral arrangements are not being made pending word from relatives at a distance.

Olaf Carlson was born June 3, 1902, in Oslo, Norway, and came to the United States with his parents in 1906. His parents homesteaded in McKenzie county, N.D., moving to Wahpeton vicinity in 1919. He engaged in farming at Dwight and later was employed with Glasser Bridge Construction Company of Breckenridge. In 1933 he started work for the Otter Tail Power Company at Kidder Station in Wahpeton, remaining with the company for 12 years.

In September 3, 1933, he married Gladys Anderson. To this union were born five children: Marlene Wirtengerber, Burbank Calif., Richard of Minneapolis, James of Kansas City, Beverly and Virginia, of Wahpeton.

He is survived by two brothers, Calmer Carlson of Wahpeton, and Vernon Carlson, of Longview, Wash., and three sisters, Mrs. Wm. Dubke and Marie Noren, of Kelso, Wash., Mrs. Palmer Aadland, of Portland, Ore.

Preceding hi in death were one sister, Ms. Archie (Hilda) Boumont, two brothers, John Carlson of Olympia, Wash., and Alfred Carlson of Portland Ore.

Funeral services will be held from Bethell Lutheran church with Rev. P.A. Gisvold officiating and Vertin Funeral home in charge of arrangements.
