Oscar Dahlgren Dies at St. Paul Friday Evening

Veteran Northern Pacific Railroad Man To Be Buried Tuesday Afternoon

Oscar Dahlgren, a resident of Wahpeton since 1904, died at the Northern Pacific hospital in St. Paul Friday night. Funeral services are to be conducted on Tuesday afternoon at two-thirty from the Methodist church and burial will be in Fairview cemetery. Mr. Dahlgren was section foreman for the Northern Pacific here since he came here. He was thought to be in no danger when he went to St. Paul Thursday for medical treatment and death was completely unexpected.

Born in Sweden April 25, 66 years ago, he came to St. Paul with his parents when a lad of seventeen years. He went to work for the Northern Pacific at Fergus Falls, where his parents lived for a time. A year later, he came to Wahpeton as section foreman and has been here continuously since that time. He was a member of the A. O. U. W. and several railroad organizations.

He is survived by his wife and ten children: Walter, Charles, Oscar, all of Wahpeton, William of New England, Mrs. Lee Henderschott of Bemidji, Minn., Agnes of Walker, Minn., Mrs. Cleo Hoffman of Wahpeton, Mrs. Tom Gillespie of Milton, N.D., Mrs. Evelyn Fuller of Bemidji, and Gertie at home. A brother Pete, of St Paul and a sister, Mrs. Maria Ahlberg of Pueblo, Colo., also survive. All of the children are here for the funeral.

Mr. Dahlgren slept away peacefully in the hospital sometime Friday night. His death was not discovered until the next morning as the night nurse thought he was sleeping all through the night.
