Obituary
Clarence Dow-1917
CLARENCE DOW DEAD Clarence Dow, only son of Mrs. F. Dow of this city, died last Saturday at Kremlin, Mont., of blood poisoning, following a very short illness. About two weeks before his death, Mr. Dow scratched his finger on the radiator of his automobile. The wound was a very trifling one, and it was given no thought whatsoever. In a week, however, the soreness and swelling in hand and arm began to be noticeable, and in another week the swelling was so bad and the pain so intense that Mr. Dow had to go to a physician. Lancing the swollen member proved of no avail, as the poison seemed to be distributed throughout the entire system. The physician immediately placed the patient in a hospital, and his mother in Wahpeton was wired for. But before the next train left in that direction word came that he had died the same day he was admitted to the hospital. The remains were brought to Wahpeton by his sister and her husband, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Richter of Big Sandy, Mont., arriving here early Monday morning. The body was taken at once to the Christian Science hall in the Masonic temple, where on Monday afternoon at 2:30 the Christian Science burial service was read by Mrs. Jos. G. Patterson. Interment followed in Fairview cemetery by the side of his father, whose death occurred some three years ago.
Clarence Dow was nearly thirty-two years of age. He was born in Wahpeton, and made his home here continuously until 1910, when he went to Montana and took a homestead. His last visit to Wahpeton was at the time of his father’s death three years ago. He is survived by his mother and sister, they being the only immediate relatives. The funeral was attended by Mr. and Mrs. Don J. Clark, Sr., of Abercrombie, and their son, Don J. Clark Jr., of Christine, the latter being a cousin and the former an uncle and aunt of the deceased.
