Obituary
Henry DeVries
Henry DeVries, 81, Breckenridge, died Monday, Sept. 21 at St. Francis Hospital. The funeral will be at 1:30 Thursday at United Methodist Church, Breckenridge, with Rev. Lavern Johnson officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Memorial Gardens, Wahpeton.
Visitation will be Wednesday afternoon and evening with a prayer service at 7 at Joseph Vertin and Sons Funeral Home, Breckenridge. There will also be visitation at the church for the hour prior to services.
He was born Nov. 26, 1899 at Elk Point, S.D. to Jacob and Gina DeVries. As a child he moved with his family to Dwight, N.D. where he attended school. He later farmed in the Dwight area. He married Myrtle Andrus Nov. 2, 1954 at Wadena, Minn. The couple lived and farmed in the Dwight area until 1964 when they retired and moved into Breckenridge.
Survivors include his wife, a stepson, Frank Steger, Mooreton; two grandchildren, a brother and two sisters, Edward, Wahpeton; Mrs. Bill (Kate) Blume, Wadena; and Mrs. Lena Pelvit, Breckenridge.
He was preceded in death by two brothers and three sisters.
Casket bearers will be Gene, Jim and Bud DeVries, Don and Lester Ward, Bill Pelvit and Bob Ruel.
