Christ Dorsch Rites Saturday

Funeral services for Christ F. Dorsch, 78, of Wahpeton were held Saturday in Immanuel Lutheran Church with the Rev. Edward J. Rutter officiating. Music was by the Immanuel Ladies’ Choir with Mrs. William Enochson as organist. Interment was in Fairview Memorial Gardens at Wahpeton. Mr. Dorsch died Thursday morning in Dakota Hospital in Fargo. Vertin’s-Wahpeton Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements

Honorary pallbearers were Jess Babbitt, Edward Dowzak, George Ehrens, Ed Kvidera, Henry Lund and Kurt Darr.

Active pallbearers were Earl P. Stein, Earl A. Stein, Calmer Carlson, Robert Matt, Harry Grinager and Lewis Ehrens.

Mr. Dorsch was born at Eckernforde, Germany, Aug. 13, 1890, the son of Gottlieb and Anna Dorsch. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran Faith and married Mathilde Ehrens in Germany Dec. 25, 1918. They lived there for five years before coming to Richland County in 1923.

They had farmed in the Dwight, Abercrombie and Colfax areas before moving to Wahpeton in 1944 where he was employed by the Otter Tail Power Co. He was a member of the Brotherhood of Electric Workers. After his retirement, he had worked for the Wahpeton Park Board.

He is survived by his wife; two sons and one daughter, Hans of Minneapolis, Henry of Pomona, Calif., Mrs. Veldon (Gladys) Stargel of Tacoma, Wash.; three brothers and a sister in Germany; 11 grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, two sisters and an infant son and daughter.
