Funeral For Mrs. E. H. Ellis Will be Tuesday

Death of Well Known Wahpeton Resident on Saturday Follows Long Illness

Funeral services for Mrs. E. H. Ellis, 75, who died Saturday evening at her home in this city, will be held Tuesday afternoon at two o’clock at the Congregational Church. Services will be held in the home preceding the church services. Rev. J. S. Caskey will officiate.

Minnie Hayden (Ellis) was born January 22nd, 1862 in Harrietsville, Ont., the child of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Hayden. She was the youngest of nine children.

When she was twenty years old she, with her family moved to Pierpont, Mich. On March 18, 1886, she was united in marriage to Edward H. Ellis, the son of Dr. and Mrs. L. S. Ellis of Manistee, Mich., and they came immediately to Oriska, N.Dak., and established their home and lived until 1908. At this home all four children were born. The family lived in Valley City for two years and in 1910 moved to Wahpeton, N. Dak., where they have resided since.

Mrs. Ellis was a member of the Mary Lane Circle of the Congregational church and an honorary members of the Ladies Aid. She was also a member of the W. R. C., the Royal Neighbors and a former member of the Fortnightly Club.

After some months of poor health, Mrs. Ellis was confined to her bed in July 1934, and has been bedridden since, yet due to devoted care and her own sunny disposition, she was able to enjoy life.

Her illness took a serious turn thru the past summer and the last three weeks the decline has been very rapid and on Saturday evening at 9 p.m. Mrs. Ellis passed away. Her immediate family were at her bedside. She is survived by her husband and one son, Ralph of Fargo, three daughters, Shirley of Wahpeton: Hazel (Mrs. F. W. Hamer) of Great Falls, Mont., and Eleanor (Mrs. R. E. Sonneman) of Harlowton, Mont., nine grandchildren and one brother, Mr. S. H. Hayden of Oberlin, Ohio.
