Harry Ehlers
FAIRMOUNT - Harry A. Ehlers, 74, of Fairmount died Tuesday at Clearwater, Fla., of an apparent heart attack. Mr. and Mrs. Ehlers had arrived there recently to spend winter months. The funeral will be at 11 Friday in St. John's Lutheran Church at Tyler with the Rev. Raymond Albrecht officiating. The Rev. Harold Vetter will be the organist and Mrs. Merril Griggs will be the soloist. Interment will be in Fairview Memorial Gardens at Wahpeton.
Visitation will be Thursday afternoon and evening with a prayer service at 7:30 at Vertin's-Wahpeton Funeral Home and Friday at the church for one hour prior to services.
Honorary casket bearers will be Art Daman, Harold Hoefs, Elmer Schradick, Earl Hauschild, Herbert Koppelman, Magnus Anderson and John Dozak.
Active casket bearers will be Darrel Barth, Don Ehlers, Darrell Miller, Dale Ehlers, Arthur Gast Jr. and Delmer Steffens.
Mr. Ehlers was born March 6, 1898, on the home farm in Summit Township, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Ehlers. He was baptized, confirmed and married in St. John's Church. He attended local schools and married Caroline Burfeiand Oct. 20, 1921, in St. John's Church at Tyler. The couple farmed in Summit Township until their retirement. They continued to live in their farm home and spend the winter months in Florida. He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church.
He is survived by his wife; four daughters, Mrs. Ted (Harriet) Pelletier of New Hope, Minn., Mrs. Ralph (June) Barnard of Clearwater, Fla., Mrs. Merlyn (Marlene) Miller of Wahpeton, Mrs. Charles (Jeanne) Bertelsen of Fairmount; 12 grandchildren; three sisters and two brothers, Mrs. Martin (Lily) Hellewege of Portland, Ore., John of Lake City, Minn., Henry of Wahpeton, Mrs. Oscar (Augusta) Bohn of Forest Lake, Minn., and Mrs. Arthur (Carrie) Gast of Fairmount.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Albert.
