Obituary
Caroline Ehlers
Services for Mrs. Harry (Caroline) Ehlers, 78, of Wahpeton will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Wahpeton, with Rev. Bruce Holstein officiating. Burial will be at Fairview Memorial Gardens.
Mrs. Ehlers died Monday at Wahpeton.
Visitation will be Tuesday afternoon and evening and Wednesday until 11 a.m. at Vertin's Wahpeton Funeral Home. There will be a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday. There will also be visitation one hour prior to services at the church.
Casket bearers will be Ralph Gelle, Harold Weiss, Charles Peterman, Donald and DuWayne Barth, and Vernon Ehlers.
Caroline Burfeind was born May 10, 1898 at Red Wing, Minn. to John and Magretta (Hauschild) Burfeind. She moved with her parents to Summit Township, Tyler, N.D. when she was a child. She was baptized and confirmed at Sl. John's Lutheran Church at Tyler and married Harry A. Ehlers there Oct. 20, 1921.
The couple farmed in Summit Township. He died Dec. 19, 1972. She then moved to Wahpeton.
Survivors are four daughters, Mrs. Ted (Harriet) Pelletier of Minneapolis, June Barnard of Clearwater, Fla., Mrs. Merlyn (Marlene) Miller of Wahpeton, and Mrs. Charles (Carole Jeanne) Bertelsen of Fairmount; 12 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and one sister, Mrs. Lillie Gelle of Wahpeton.
