Obituary
August Ehrens
Funeral services for August W. Ehrens, 69, of Barney will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at the Wyndmere Lutheran Church with Rev. Arlington Mitskog officiating. Burial will be at Fairview Memorial Gardens in Wahpeton.
Mr. Ehrens died Sunday morning at St. Francis Hospital in Breckenridge. He had been in ill health for the past seven years.
Organist at the service will be Mrs. Klinton Braaten. Mrs. Laverne Olson will be the soloist.
Visitation will be Tuesday afternoon and evening at Vertin's Wahpeton Funeral Chapel with a prayer service at 8 p.m., and also from the noon until time of services at the church.
August Ehrens was born September 11, 1904 at Sutherland, Ia., to John and Amanda (Ahrens) Ehrens. He moved with his parents in 1916 to a Dwight farm where he was raised and attended schools.
He married Clara Gutzmer October 29, 1927 in Fergus Falls and the couple farmed at Dwight until 1942 when they moved to a farm in Antelope Township, Barney.
He was a member of the Wyndmere Lutheran Church and the Wahpeton Eagles.
Survivors include his wife; one brother, Lewis, of Barney; and four sisters, Mrs. Arthur (Mabel) Johnson, Mrs. Byron (Ethel) Rossum and Mrs. John (Luccile) Buck, all of Wahpeton and Mrs. Leona Wasteland of West Fargo.
He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant daughter and son; and four brothers, George, Delbert, Raymond and Rudolph.
Arrangements were with Vertin's Wahpeton Funeral Home.
