Obituary
Helmer Evenson Dies Wednesday
Helmer E. Evenson, 86, of Mooreton died Wednesday night in St. Francis Hospital from injuries received in a two-car accident Monday near Wyndmere.
Funeral services were held Saturday at the Mooreton Lutheran Church with The Rev. Hans Upstad of Abercrombie officiating. Organist was Miss Colleen Score and vocalist was Mrs. Albert Eckhardt. Interment was in Fairview Memorial Cemetery, Garden of the Christus.
Pallbearers were Leslie Bossman, Gordon Johnson, John Skovholt, Clarence Halstenson, Earl Hanson and Lester Ward.
Mr. Evenson was born at Mooreton Sept. 29, 1881, the son of Ole and Mary Evenson. He was a lifelong resident of Mooreton Township. He had farmed there since 18 years of age until his retirement from active farming in 1950. He continued to live on the home farm and resided at Battle Lake during the summer. He married Aslaug Rollag at Dwight, N.D., Oct 28, 1912. He was a member of the Mooreton Lutheran Church.
Surviving are his wife; three daughters, Mrs. Ralph (Adeline) Beeson of Wahpeton, Mrs. Charles (Irene) Cromwell of Fairhope, Ala., and Mrs. Russell (Doris) Langseth of Minneapolis and seven grandchildren.
Also surviving are a brother, Dr Harry Evenson of Redwood Falls, Minn., and a sister, Mrs. Morris (Clara) Bakken of Long Beach, Calif.
He was proceeded in death by his parents, one daughter, Lorraine, two brothers and three sisters.
Vertin’s-Wahpeton Funeral Home of Wahpeton was in charge of arrangements.
