Obituary
Martha Farnsworth-1911 Mrs. Martha Farnsworth Passes Away Mrs. Martha Robinson Farnsworth who had been very poorly for several weeks found release from her suffering at home Friday June 16. Never rugged Mrs. Farnsworth has been in exceedingly ill health for twelve years. Yet, in it all, she has born patiently and bravely all that has been her lot to suffer. Better than this, she has played her part, the highest part a mortal can , she has been a true and faithful mother. Quiet in disposition she loved solitude and cared most for the companionship of those who knew her and loved her and were nearest to her.
I do not undertake to tell the people of Wahpeton about the life and value of so good a woman whom our citizens have known these many years. Personally I have known her as a valuable christian woman with whom I have had
several cheerful conversations. We shall miss her in our town and especially from the home of her son where she was residing at the time of her departure.
Mrs. Farnsworth was born in McCuensville, Pa, March 8th, 1846. Coming with her husband to Wahpeton in 1879 she is numbered among “old settlers” of our state and county. And so one whose name has long been a household word with our people, has proceeded us to the land of the Heaven lies. She was ready, she was waiting, relief has come.
Services were held from the home of Mr. and Mrs. W. L. Farnsworth Monday afternoon and interment was in Fairview cemetery, Rev. E. D. Gallagher officiating.
Location
Old Fairview is located on the southern half of the cemetery grounds.
